Sudanese authorities report that a drone attack killed at least 79 civilians, including 43 children, in the city of Kalogi on Thursday. They blame the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitary group for the strikes.
The attack hit several locations within the city, according to official statements. These included a kindergarten, a hospital, and other densely populated civilian areas.
The RSF has not yet commented on the allegations. The incident marks one of the single deadliest reported attacks on civilians since the conflict between the Sudanese military and the RSF began over a year ago.
The war has caused a severe humanitarian crisis, displacing millions and pushing parts of the country toward famine. International efforts to negotiate a ceasefire have so far failed.
