The groups for the 2026 FIFA Men’s World Cup are now set, with tournament co-host the United States learning its first-round opponents. The draw, held in Miami, placed the U.S. men’s national team in Group C with Uruguay, Panama, and Bolivia.
The 2026 tournament will be the first ever hosted by three nations: the United States, Canada, and Mexico. It will also be the largest in history, expanding from 32 to 48 teams.
As a host, Team USA automatically qualified. It will aim to advance from a group where Uruguay is considered the strongest opponent. Panama and Bolivia qualified through their regional tournaments.
Canada, another host, will face a tough challenge in Group A against Argentina, Peru, and Chile. Mexico, the third host, was drawn into Group D alongside Ecuador, Venezuela, and New Zealand.
The tournament will begin in June 2026, with matches staged in 16 cities across North America. The opening game will be played in Mexico City.
