Gulf Nations Reaffirm Support for Morocco's Western Sahara Plan

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has formally endorsed Morocco's claim to sovereignty over the disputed Western Sahara region. The announcement came from the GCC's Supreme Council following a recent United Nations Security Council decision. In a statement, the Supreme Council said it welcomed the UN Security Council's endorsement of Rabat's proposed autonomy plan. The UN resolution supports Morocco's offer of self-rule for Western Sahara under Moroccan sovereignty as a serious and credible solution. The GCC, a political and economic alliance of six Arab states, has consistently backed Morocco's position. This latest statement reinforces that diplomatic support amid ongoing international efforts to resolve the decades-long territorial dispute.
