Police in New Zealand have recovered a valuable jeweled egg after a suspect allegedly swallowed it to avoid detection. The 2.5-inch artifact, valued at over $19,000, is a modern "Fabergé-style" egg covered in diamonds.
The egg is named "Octopussy" after the 1983 James Bond film. Authorities say a 36-year-old man attempted to steal it from an Auckland jewelry store.
Officers arrested the suspect nearby. An x-ray at the hospital confirmed he had swallowed the egg.
Police recovered the item and charged the man with theft. The egg was returned to the store undamaged.
