The Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda will hold the first summit of a new economic partnership this year. The meeting launches their Regional Economic Integration Framework (REIF).
The REIF is a major platform for joint projects. It will focus on shared development in mining, tourism, health, energy, and infrastructure.
This cooperative effort follows a deal backed by the United States. The agreement aims to reduce tensions and build economic ties between the two neighbors.
