Lebanon Ceasefire Collapses: Israel Kills 31 in One Day

The world is paying little attention as civilians, including children, die in Lebanon. A supposed ceasefire is now “threadbare.” This week, Israel intensified its attacks. On Tuesday, Israeli strikes killed 31 people. On Wednesday, the military ordered the entire city of Tyre to evacuate. Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to “crush” Hezbollah. Israeli troops have pushed out of the buffer zone in southern Lebanon. Far-right ministers want to annex that land. The US suggested a peace deal with Iran is near. Iran says Lebanon must be part of any agreement. But while Washington and Tehran talk, Lebanon suffers. The attacks may be a strategy. Israel might be intensifying strikes before the US stops it. Or it may want to destabilize peace talks. The war also lets Netanyahu avoid accountability at home. Meanwhile, Hezbollah drones pose a growing threat to Israeli soldiers and northern residents. Domestic pressure for continued attacks on Hezbollah is rising.
