The South African government has welcomed new data showing the economy grew in the third quarter of 2025. Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) reported a 0.5 percent increase in Gross Domestic Product (GDP). GDP is the total value of all goods and services produced in a country.
This growth follows a period of economic contraction in the previous quarter. The positive figure signals a return to expansion for Africa's most industrialized economy.
The government acknowledged the result in an official statement. Officials did not provide further immediate comment on the drivers behind the quarterly growth.
