Moscow Court Upholds Convictions of Journalists Linked to Navalny Group

A Moscow court has rejected the appeals of four Russian journalists. They were convicted earlier for their alleged ties to a now-banned anti-corruption organization founded by the late opposition leader Alexei Navalny.
The journalists include two former reporters for Germany's international broadcaster, Deutsche Welle (DW). All four were found guilty of "extremism" charges for their association with Navalny's Foundation for Fighting Corruption (FBK).
Russian authorities labeled the FBK as an extremist organization in 2021. This ruling made any public association with the group a criminal offense.
The court's decision to dismiss the appeal means the journalists' original sentences stand. They will now face punishments ranging from fines to suspended prison terms.
