Spain, Ireland, the Netherlands, and Slovenia will boycott the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest. Their coordinated decision is a direct response to the European Broadcasting Union's (EBU) confirmation that Israel will be allowed to compete.
The EBU, which organizes the event, stated Israel's public broadcaster meets all membership and competition rules. This decision follows a similar controversy surrounding Israel's participation in the 2024 contest.
The four boycotting nations have not detailed specific alternative plans. Their withdrawal marks a significant diplomatic protest within the long-running international song competition.
Eurovision 2025 will be held in Switzerland. The host city for the 2026 contest has not yet been announced.
