Bipartisan Lawmakers Propose Limited Extension of Health Law Subsidies

A small group of U.S. lawmakers from both major parties has proposed a new healthcare plan. Their goal is to temporarily extend subsidies for insurance plans under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), often called Obamacare.
The two-year proposal would continue these subsidies but at a reduced level. The subsidies are currently set to expire soon, which could raise costs for millions of Americans.
Despite this rare bipartisan agreement, the plan’s future is uncertain. It faces significant opposition in the Republican-controlled House of Representatives, where many members seek more extensive changes to the health law.
