Federal agents have arrested a suspect in connection with pipe bombs left near the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. The devices were discovered before the riot at the building began.
Law enforcement officials announced the arrest on Sunday. The suspect faces charges related to the placement of explosive materials.
The investigation has lasted for nearly five years. The FBI had previously released video of a person in a hooded sweatshirt and mask, whom they identified as a key suspect.
The pipe bombs were found at the headquarters of the Republican and Democratic political parties. Both devices were safely disabled and did not explode.
