Macron Seeks Chinese Investment to Boost French Industry

French President Emmanuel Macron has asked Chinese companies to invest in France. He specifically wants them to share technical knowledge in key new industries.
These sectors include electric vehicle (EV) batteries, EVs themselves, and solar panel manufacturing. The request highlights concerns that China is pulling ahead of France in technological development.
“We want to welcome more Chinese investment through projects and re-industrialisation strategies,” Macron said. He made the statement on Thursday in Beijing. “This is what will allow us to break the cycle we’re currently in.”
The appeal marks a shift in the economic relationship. France now seeks Chinese expertise to revive its own industrial base.
