Amnesty International Calls for War Crimes Probe After Sudan Camp Attack

Rights group Amnesty International is demanding an investigation into potential war crimes at a major refugee camp in Sudan. The group accuses the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of a deliberate assault on civilians. In a report, Amnesty alleges the RSF carried out a large-scale attack on the Zamzam camp in North Darfur in April. The camp is Sudan's largest for displaced people. The organization states RSF fighters "deliberately killed civilians, took hostages, pillaged and destroyed mosques, schools and health clinics." The RSF has been engaged in a brutal conflict with Sudan's national army since April 2023.
