Zambia Champions Regional Health Strategy Ahead of Major Conference

Zambia is leading a major regional health initiative ahead of a key conference in Lusaka next year. The effort focuses on the "One Health" approach, which recognizes the close links between human, animal, and environmental health. The Zambia National Public Health Institute (ZNPHI) is central to this push. Its Director General, Professor Roma Chilengi, says the country is building momentum for the Southern and Eastern Africa One Health Conference in December 2025. The conference aims to strengthen regional cooperation. Experts will share strategies to tackle diseases that spread between animals and people, improve food safety, and combat antimicrobial resistance. Professor Chilengi emphasizes that national action in Zambia supports broader regional goals. He expects the conference to produce concrete plans for better cross-sector collaboration across Southern and Eastern Africa.
