Doctor Who Supplied Ketamine to Matthew Perry Sentenced to 30 Months

A doctor who illegally provided ketamine to actor Matthew Perry has been sentenced to 30 months in federal prison. Dr. Salvador Plasencia received the sentence in a Los Angeles court.
Plasencia is the first of five individuals to be convicted in connection with Perry's 2023 death. The "Friends" star was found dead in his Los Angeles home's hot tub last October.
The actor's official cause of death was listed as the "acute effects of ketamine." Authorities say Plasencia wrote prescriptions for the powerful anesthetic drug in the names of associates, not for Perry himself.
This allowed the medication to reach the actor outside of proper medical supervision. The other four defendants in the case are still awaiting trial.
