Poll: Most Europeans Seek Equal Distance from US and China

A clear majority of Europeans prefer their continent to maintain an equal distance from the United States and China, rather than siding with either superpower, a new survey reveals. The poll, published on Thursday by the French magazine *Le Grand Continent*, shows 55% of respondents favor keeping “the same distance between the two” nations. Only 4% would prioritize aligning with China over the US. One-fifth of those surveyed across Europe held the opposite view, advocating for closer ties with the United States. The findings highlight a European public preference for strategic autonomy. Many citizens appear to want their leaders to navigate between the world's two largest economies independently.
