Gulf Bloc Condemns Israeli Strikes on Syria as 'Grave Violation'
Leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) have formally condemned Israeli military attacks on Syria. They labeled the strikes a "grave violation" of international law and United Nations resolutions. The condemnation came in the final statement from the GCC's 46th annual summit. Leaders from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, and Kuwait met in Manama, Bahrain. The communique expressed strong support for Syria's sovereignty. It stated that Israel's repeated attacks threaten regional security and stability. The GCC also called for intensified international efforts to achieve a comprehensive peace in the Middle East. This peace, they stated, must be based on a two-state solution for Israel and Palestine.
