Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed on Wednesday he will visit New York. This announcement comes despite a pledge from the city's future mayor to enforce international arrest warrants against him.
The warrants were issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC). The court alleges that Netanyahu and Russian President Vladimir Putin have committed war crimes.
New York Mayor-elect Zainab Mamdani has vowed to instruct police to act on these warrants. Netanyahu stated his travel plans remain unchanged despite this threat.
The ICC is a global court that prosecutes individuals for genocide and war crimes. Israel, like the United States and Russia, does not accept the court's jurisdiction.
