Gunshots were fired inside the Philippine Senate on Wednesday as Senator Ronald dela Rosa remained barricaded in the building to avoid arrest.
Dela Rosa, accused of crimes against humanity by the International Criminal Court (ICC), has spent two nights inside the Senate in a standoff with authorities. The charges stem from his role overseeing former President Rodrigo Duterte’s deadly “war on drugs,” a campaign blamed for thousands of extrajudicial killings.
