Killer Whales Attack: New Horror Film Falls Flat

When two best friends on vacation decide to break into a water park with a handsome stranger, there are only so many scares waiting for them. A new movie, *Killer Whale*, tries to make the ocean predator the villain. But the film never reaches the terror of *Jaws* or the fun of *Deep Blue Sea*. Instead, it ends up being a relationship drama between two friends stranded on a rock in their bikinis. The story follows Maddie (Virginia Gardner), a waitress and cellist. A robbery at her diner takes her hearing and her dream man, Chad (Isaac Crawley). A year later, she goes on a vacation with her college friend Trish (Mel Jarnson), a social media influencer studying gene editing. The killer whale, named Ceto, is a special memory for Maddie and Chad. Trish plans for Maddie to visit Ceto at a water park. After the girls meet Josh (Mitchell Hope) and drink, the three decide to break into the park. The whale, however, is not scary enough to make the film anything more than briefly entertaining. The real story is the drama between the two friends.
