Embattled FBI Director Kash Patel has denied under oath allegations that he drank excessively and was absent from work without explanation. He called the claims “baseless” during a heated congressional hearing.
Democrats challenged Patel over the reports. They argued that if true, the behavior would be a “gross dereliction” of duty. The allegations were first published by The Atlantic in April.
Patel has sued the magazine and the article’s author for defamation. He filed the lawsuit in US district court, seeking $250m in damages.
