A British-German startup called Hypersonica launched a hypersonic missile from Andøya Spaceport in Norway. The missile reached a speed of over 7,400 kilometers per hour during the test.
This launch comes months after the UK government stated that such weapons could significantly boost Ukraine's firepower. Hypersonic missiles travel at more than five times the speed of sound, making them extremely difficult to intercept.
The successful test marks a major step for Hypersonica, a company formed by British and German engineers. Further details about the missile's range and payload have not been disclosed.
