Malaysian automaker Perodua has launched its first entirely homegrown electric vehicle (EV), named the EMO. This marks a major step for the national car company as the global auto industry shifts toward electrification.
The EMO is a small, five-door hatchback designed for city driving. Perodua developed the car completely in-house, including its battery and electric motor technology. The company has not yet announced the vehicle's price, driving range, or exact sale date.
The launch positions Perodua to compete in Southeast Asia's growing EV market. The move also supports the Malaysian government's national goals to increase EV adoption and develop local technical expertise in electric mobility.
