British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is fighting to keep his job. More than 80 lawmakers from his own Labour Party have publicly said he is not the right leader to win the next general election. They are calling on him to resign.
Starmer has refused to step down. He vows to stay in power because no formal leadership challenge has been officially launched.
If Labour does choose a new leader, one top candidate is already emerging. Wes Streeting, 43, currently serves as health and social care minister. He has held the role since Labour took office in July 2024.
