British Prime Minister Keir Starmer appears safe for now. A leadership challenge from his health secretary, Wes Streeting, has not happened.
Several allies of Streeting have left the government. But Downing Street sources say Streeting does not yet have the support of the 81 MPs needed to start a formal leadership bid.
Starmer had given his cabinet a “put up or shut up” ultimatum. On Tuesday, he felt more confident that the immediate threat to his job had passed.
