Ukraine Approves 2026 Budget, Prioritizing Defense and Recovery

Ukraine’s parliament has passed the state budget for 2026, directing significant resources toward military needs and post-war reconstruction. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated the spending plan focuses on core national priorities. "The priorities are clear: guaranteeing our defense, social programs, and opportunities to restore life after Russian strikes," Zelenskyy said. The budget allocates substantial funding to the armed forces to counter the ongoing Russian invasion. It also reserves funds for critical social support and to repair infrastructure damaged by attacks. This forward-looking financial plan underscores Ukraine's dual strategy: sustaining its defense while planning for future recovery. The government will implement the budget starting January 1, 2026.
