An Algerian court will decide the fate of a detained French journalist on Wednesday. The court in Tizi Ouzou will rule on Christophe Gleizes's appeal against a seven-year prison sentence.
A sports journalist, Gleizes received the sentence for "glorifying terrorism." Authorities have detained him since his conviction in June.
His appeal hearing included his lawyers, family, and partner. Both his Algerian and French legal representatives were able to consult with him before the proceedings.
The verdict will determine if his conviction and lengthy sentence are upheld.
