The United Kingdom has removed its warning against all but essential travel to two major wildlife destinations in Uganda. This decision applies to Queen Elizabeth National Park and Semuliki National Park.
The UK government had advised against non-essential travel to these areas for over two years. The advisory for Queen Elizabeth also included the region immediately southwest of Kasese town.
Uganda's tourism sector has welcomed the change. The removal of the travel warning is a significant boost for the country's wildlife tourism.
The UK's Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office issues such advisories to inform its citizens of potential safety risks abroad. The lifting of the restriction indicates a changed assessment of conditions in these specific park areas.
