Analyst Questions China's Stance on Korean Reunification
A South Korean security expert has publicly questioned whether China would actively support the future reunification of the Korean Peninsula. Sung Ki-young, a chief research fellow at the Institute for National Security Strategy, made the remarks at the Korean Peninsula Peace Forum in Hong Kong. He argued that both China and the United States show a strong preference for maintaining the current stability in the region. According to Sung, this shared reluctance means that neither major power is likely to support rapid or radical change on the peninsula. His analysis suggests Seoul may not be able to depend on Beijing as a committed partner in any reunification process.
