A partial collapse of Cuba's national power grid left the capital, Havana, and a large western region without electricity early Wednesday. Local media and eyewitnesses confirmed widespread outages.
State-run media reporter Lazaro Manuel Alonso stated that four western provinces lost power entirely. The affected area stretches from Pinar del Rio to Mayabeque.
The cause of the grid failure remains unclear. Authorities have not yet provided an explanation or estimated when power will be restored.
In Havana, the skyline stayed dark before sunrise. Only critical facilities like hospitals and some tourist hotels maintained electricity, according to reports.
