Activists Place Crosses for Ukrainian Children Outside Russian Embassy in Warsaw
WARSAW, Poland – While Moscow celebrated its annual 9 May military parade, activists in Warsaw placed crosses and photos of Ukrainian children killed in the war outside the Russian Embassy. “We want to remind the whole world that Russia is a terrorist state waging a genocidal war in Ukraine, committing war crimes, and must be held accountable for this,” said Natalia Panchenko, leader of the Euromaidan-Warsaw group. The demonstration occurred on the same day Russia marked its Victory Day, a holiday commemorating the Soviet Union’s defeat of Nazi Germany. The activists’ action sought to draw attention to civilian casualties in Ukraine, specifically children, amid the ongoing conflict.
