Kremlin officials have held their first direct talks with advisors to former U.S. President Donald Trump about a potential peace plan for Ukraine. The discussion occurred during a recent meeting in Moscow between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Trump’s foreign policy envoys.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed the talks on Thursday. He stated that Russian officials reviewed the presented proposals.
“Some suggestions were accepted; others were deemed unacceptable,” Peskov said. He did not provide specific details about the plan or which points were rejected.
The conversation marks a new development in unofficial diplomatic efforts to end the war. The U.S. State Department has reiterated that only the current American administration can conduct formal foreign policy.
