Prosecutors have formally charged Federica Mogherini, the European Union's former foreign policy chief, with fraud and corruption. The charges relate to contracts for training future diplomats. The case involves procurement, which is the process of buying goods or services, at the College of Europe. Mogherini currently serves as the head of the prestigious graduate school. Belgian authorities charged her on Wednesday. They allege wrongdoing in contracts awarded for a training program for diplomats. Mogherini served as the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs from 2014 to 2019. She became the rector of the College of Europe, which has campuses in Belgium and Poland, in 2020.
