Egypt has firmly denied agreeing to a plan with Israel to reopen the Rafah crossing solely for Gazans to leave the territory. On Wednesday, Egyptian officials insisted the vital border must operate in both directions.
The denial came hours after Israel stated it would open the crossing. Israel said the opening would allow residents "exclusively" to exit the besieged Palestinian enclave.
The Rafah crossing is a critical gateway between Gaza and Egypt. Its operational status remains a key point of contention, directly impacting humanitarian access and civilian movement.
