South Africa's military has warned the public about false recruitment advertisements circulating on Facebook. These posts use the military's logo and promise jobs in exchange for a fee.
The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) confirms it has open positions. However, all official applications must be submitted through the government's central e-Recruitment portal. The military never asks for payment during its recruitment process.
"The SANDF does not charge a fee for people to apply for jobs," stated Brigadier General Andries Mahapa, a military spokesperson. He urged citizens to ignore the fraudulent posts and to only use the official government website for applications.
Authorities advise anyone who has sent money in response to these social media posts to report the incident to the police.
