President Donald Trump stated on Tuesday that the United States could attack countries that traffic illegal drugs into its territory. He made the remarks during a White House cabinet meeting after discussing cocaine originating from Colombia.

Colombian President Gustavo Petro responded sharply on social media. He defended his nation's efforts, stating that Colombia destroys a drug-producing laboratory every 40 minutes.
