Double Tour de France champion Jonas Vingegaard begins his first Giro d’Italia on Friday. The race starts in Bulgaria, and Vingegaard is the clear favourite to win in Rome on 31 May. Vingegaard, who won the Tour de France in 2022 and 2023, is now chasing a rare Grand Tour grand slam—winning all three major stage races. He has been overshadowed this season by Tadej Pogacar, who has won nine races in just 11 days of competition. Still, Vingegaard enters the Giro as the top contender.
