Hong Kong housing officials have denied online rumors that survivors of a recent deadly fire are being housed in unfinished interim accommodation.
The Housing Department acted after a social media user claimed residents were moving into flats in poor condition. A department spokesman stated on Wednesday that no survivors from the Wang Fuk Court fire in Tai Po are currently staying in such housing.
Interim housing provides temporary homes mainly for people affected by natural disasters or government redevelopment projects. The department did not comment on the future housing plans for the fire survivors.
The fire occurred earlier this month, resulting in multiple fatalities. Authorities continue to investigate its cause.
