Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks with two American envoys at the Kremlin on Tuesday. The visitors were Steve Witkoff, a US real estate executive, and Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of former President Donald Trump.
The meeting represents a new effort by Trump to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine. The conflict, now in its fourth year, began with Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014.
Kushner previously worked as a senior advisor in the Trump White House. The Kremlin described the discussions as “constructive.”
