French President Emmanuel Macron arrives in China on Wednesday for a three-day state visit. His talks with Chinese leader Xi Jinping will focus on two major issues: the war in Ukraine and trade relations.
On Ukraine, President Macron will urge China to use its influence with Russia. He hopes President Xi will press Moscow to agree to a ceasefire.
The visit also aims to address economic ties between the European Union and China. The EU currently has a large trade deficit with China, and trade is a key item on Macron's agenda.
This is President Macron's fourth state visit to China.
