Former ESPN host Bomani Jones has publicly criticized the University of Mississippi's reported succession plan for its head football coach. Jones targeted the expected promotion of defensive coordinator Pete Golding to replace Lane Kiffin when Kiffin leaves.
On his podcast, Jones argued that Golding's appearance alone signaled he was not fit for the top job. "He isn't a head coach," Jones stated, referencing a picture of Golding.
The university has reportedly set a plan where Golding would automatically become head coach if Kiffin departs. Kiffin has led the Ole Miss football team since 2020.
Jones's comments have sparked discussion among college football fans. Ole Miss officials have not yet publicly commented on the criticism or confirmed the reported succession agreement.
