Syrian security forces have stopped an attempt to smuggle a large number of mines into Lebanon. Authorities arrested four suspects and "neutralized" a fifth during the operation.
The Internal Security Directorate in Yabroud, a city in Rif Dimashq province, carried out the interception. Officials announced the operation on Monday, December 2.
Director Khaled Abbas Taktouk confirmed the details in an official statement. The Syrian Interior Ministry published his remarks on its Telegram channel.
The statement said the seized explosives were mines. It identified Lebanon as the intended destination for the smuggled shipment.
