Prince Andrew will not receive a promised $1 million refund for his former Windsor home, according to The Crown Estate. The agency states the property was left in a significant state of disrepair.
The Duke of York had a lease requiring him to maintain the 30-room Royal Lodge mansion. The refund was contingent on the home being returned in good condition.
The Crown Estate, which manages the British monarchy's public property portfolio, found the mansion did not meet that standard. This finding voids the financial compensation agreement.
Prince Andrew has now officially vacated the property. He now resides in a smaller royal residence, Frogmore Cottage.
