A known disinformation network with links to China is spreading antisemitic propaganda online, according to a new report. The campaign aims to exploit rising tensions within the United States.
The operation, known by researchers as "Spamouflage," uses artificial intelligence and other methods to amplify hateful content. A non-profit security organization warned in early October that such extremist propaganda seeks to accelerate radicalization and potential hate crimes.
Spamouflage is a large, state-aligned influence network. Experts have previously connected it to the People's Republic of China (PRC). It uses fake social media accounts to push divisive narratives in multiple countries.
The report highlights how foreign actors are seeking to inflame existing social divisions within the US. The Jewish community has reported increasing fears amid a documented rise in antisemitic rhetoric and incidents.
