Gerry McGovern, the longtime design leader of Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), has left the company. His departure follows the recent appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer by the automaker.
McGovern served as Chief Creative Officer for nearly a decade. He was responsible for the distinct visual identity of both the Jaguar and Land Rover brands.
His exit comes just two weeks after JLR’s parent company, Tata Motors, named Adrian Mardell as its permanent CEO. Mardell had held the role on an interim basis for several months.
The company has not announced a direct replacement for McGovern. A JLR spokesperson confirmed his departure and stated an update on the future leadership of the design team will come in due course.
This leadership change occurs as JLR executes a major strategic shift. The plan, known as "Reimagine," focuses on electric vehicles and repositioning the Jaguar brand as a fully electric luxury marque by 2025.
