A French journalist remains imprisoned in Algeria as he appeals a severe seven-year sentence. Christophe Gleizes, 36, was convicted in June for "glorifying terrorism."
Authorities arrested Gleizes over five months ago in the Kabylie region. He was reporting on a football club at the time. The specific details of the alleged offense have not been publicly detailed by the court.
His appeal trial is set to begin on December 3. Gleizes continues to be held in a prison in Tizi Ouzou while awaiting this legal proceeding.
