CIA Director John Ratcliffe met with Cuban officials in Havana on Thursday, the Cuban government confirmed. The meeting aims to improve dialogue between the United States and the communist-run island.
The talks come as US-Cuba relations have sharply declined. Cuba recently declared it has "absolutely no fuel" because of the US blockade.
"The meeting took place in a context marked by the complexity of bilateral relations," a Cuban government statement read. It said the goal was to contribute to political dialogue between both nations.
