An attorney for Morgan Geyser, who was convicted for a 2014 stabbing inspired by the fictional Slender Man character, is requesting her return to a mental health facility. The request follows Geyser's recent arrest after she allegedly left a Wisconsin community group home without permission. Geyser, now 21, was found not guilty by reason of mental disease in 2018. A judge sentenced her to 40 years in a secure mental health institution. Prosecutors had argued she understood the wrongfulness of her actions. Her lawyer argues that jail is an inappropriate setting for Geyser, stating she requires continued psychiatric treatment. The attorney has filed a motion to have her transferred from custody back to a mental health facility. The court has not yet ruled on the motion. Geyser and another girl were 12 years old when they stabbed a classmate to appease the online horror character Slender Man. The victim survived the attack.
