A debut poetry collection called *Joy Is My Middle Name* has won the £20,000 Dylan Thomas prize. American poet Sasha Debevec-McKenney received the award at a ceremony in Swansea, Wales, the birthplace of poet Dylan Thomas. The prize is given to writers aged 39 or younger, in honor of Thomas, who died at that age. Debevec-McKenney’s collection explores themes of race, addiction, and womanhood.
