The investors, real estate developers Robert Witkoff and Jared Kushner, are expected to meet with Putin in Moscow. Kushner is the son-in-law of former U.S. President Donald Trump. The Kremlin stated the discussions will focus on potential peace negotiations regarding Ukraine. This diplomatic meeting occurs alongside continued fighting. The Russian military claims it has made recent advances on the battlefield in Ukraine's eastern Donetsk region. Western officials have consistently dismissed previous Russian offers for talks as insincere.
